Wind Generator turbine/Mill

Home

I built this wind generator turbine/mill several years ago using a 3 phase permanent magnet servo motor. It was temporarily mounted at the front of my

house as a test concept. I made all the mounts and tail fin mount to turn the generator out of the wind when high. It all worked well, however we had badly fluctuating winds

years ago. Unfortunately I did not mount the generator far enough forward and there was a wobble in the blades which caught the scaffold pole mast and destroyed the blades, hey ho.

It was all painted white, however time and my pressure washer has taken a lot of it off. If so inclined, you could wire brush it over and paint again.

Nothing has rusted through like an old British Ford Cortina. The rust was caused by general inland rain, NOT coastal salt water rain.

Lower down this page are photos from when I originally built the generator.

I no longer have the regulator as a friend begged it off me, sorry

The black rusty lump was weights added to help balance the rotor.

The white bit is the remains of one of the blades.

>Below are the various photos from when it was originally constructed.

Since these photos, various bits have been painted, exposed to harsh weather

to obtain the much sought after patina it has today.
